Welcome to OUR School
Avilla Elementary School proudly serves the Kindergarten through sixth-grade students of Swan and Allen Townships. Additionally, we also host two special-needs programs for the East Noble School Corporation: a pre-school as well as a Functional Life Skills class. OUR 460 students are housed in a 129,000 square foot building built in 1995 and has modern infrastructure to meet the needs of our 1:1 district technology initiative. We offer a variety of academic and service-oriented activities for all of OUR students. These include: Math and Spell Bowl groups, Robotics Club, Science Fair, STAR (Students Taking Action Responsibly), Abili-Team, and National Elementary Honor Society. Not only do OUR students do well academically, they also stand out as good citizens with a focus on being good members of the entire school community. We place graveside wreaths for Veteran’s and Memorial Days, help with Basket Brigade at Thanksgiving, and collect non-perishable items for the Christmas Bureau. We also conduct two Leukemia and Lymphoma fundraisers: Light the Night and Pennies for Patients, as well as always willing to help OUR community in any way.
Additionally, we are a member of the NO EXCUSES UNIVERSITY NETWORK. This consortium of schools is committed to the vision of future success for the students whom they serve, and vow to ensure that the students have the needed skills to be successful should they hope to pursue future educational opportunities at the collegiate level. Since joining this network five years ago, standardized scores have increased approximately 14% and currently a little over 87% of OUR students have been deemed proficient as measured by ISTEP. Our third-grade percentage of students who pass the IREAD 3 state test is typically in the 90th percentile. All of our classrooms have adopted colleges and universities statewide, national, and abroad and enjoy a working relationship with them that is also inclusive of visits to those in closer proximity.
