 Leaving School Safely

Keep Our Students Safe After School

Beyond equipping our students with the best education possible, the staff at Avilla School places a high priority on student safety.  Our nearly six hundred students enter in an orderly way in the morning...and exit safely too.  Students who ride school buses enter and exit from the front doors of the building.  After the buses leave at the end of the day, students who walk leave from the front as well.

Parents in Cars

Meanwhile, in the back of the building at day's end, parents in cars wait for their children.  Several teachers and building principal Mr. Heavin and assistant principal Miss Lawyer have organized an orderly way for this pick-up to occur.

If your child's end-of-day procedures are different on a given day, a note from you is required so that his/her teacher and the office staff are aware of any changes in transportation arrangements.

We encourage all parents to remind their children of  what to do--and what not to do!--around buses and cars, so that everyone, from preschool through eighth grade, arrives home safe and sound!

 Terry Welcomes Elementary Students

Terry the Panther Welcomes Elementary Students

Terry in Mrs. Miller's class
Terry, Avilla School's panther mascot, spent a recent afternoon visiting elementary classes at Avilla School.  For students, the visit was extra special because Terry came bearing gifts--a new playground item for each class.  From sidewalk chalk for the kindergarten classes (in Mrs. Miller's class, pictured above) to frisbees, kickballs, and basketballs in the upper grades...there was something new for every class!
